EUROPEAN SOCIETY FOR EMERGENCY MEDICINE
founded May 1994
The European Society for Emergency Medicine is a European forum for
physicians who work within a structure providing pre-, inter- and/or in-hospital
emergency medical care.
The objective of the society is to promote the advancement of
Emergency Medicine in Europe:
=> to foster and encourage instruction, training and
research in Emergency Medicine within Europe,
=> to promote and facilitate the dissemination of information
on Emergency Medicine, through meetings, courses, research and publications,
=> to encourage the development of uniform information systems
and data banks in Emergency Medicine in Europe,
=> to encourage the formation and the cooperation between national
associations for Emergency Medicine,
=> to promote international collaboration in the field of Emergency
Medicine.
Through its activities, it plays an important role in the progress
of science and the advancement of knowledge.
There are three classes of membership of the society:
MEMBERS :
European physicians who work within a structure providing pre-,
inter- and/or in-hospital emergency medical care in Europe.
Membership fee will be SFR 200
ASSOCIATE MEMBERS:
Physicians practising in Europe who are not eligible for full
membership, but with a special interest in Emergency Medicine.
Trainees may apply for associate membership (a letter verifying
trainee status is required).
Membership fee for associate members will be SFR 100
INTERNATIONAL MEMBERS:
Physicians with a special interest in Emergency Medicine or who
work within a structure providing pre, inter- and/or in-hospital emergency
medical care outside Europe.
Membership fee for international members will be SFR 200
The membership fee includes the subscription to the "European Journal
of Emergency Medicine" published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins
